Among the Stars

My fabulous friend Amber asked me to paint a mural for her son's room. "I'm thinking a space theme." She said as my eyes lit up, "I love that idea!" But wait, painting a space mural means...painting...means...intentional hours dedicated to turning little white dots into sparkling stars, and blobby orbs into planets! Well, I've begun this galactic project, and this is all I have so far, but I promise that you will see more when you visit next month, Amber!!

Pink (Part Two)

So, after my black and pink shirt project, I had a sleeveless pink shirt leftover that I just couldn't throw away. I decided to just start cutting it and see what happened...I ended up layering strips across the front and sewing them together. I took the ribbing from the neck line and used it for the straps...I thought this was quite clever! I made a slightly not-symmetrical v-shape pattern in the back...and now I have a cute strappy tank!!

Black and Pink

This creation is one I tried to document and the story has two parts. I had this black shirt that was mostly comfortable but the sleeves were a little small and tight, I mean yea my biceps look amazing on their own but accentuated by cap sleeves, well, I just felt bad flaunting all that beauty! Actually I just felt chubby, so away with the cap sleeves!

To begin, I cut the hems off each sleeve

.

Then I took another "my biceps look just too damn amazing in this thing and I must not wear it around my friends" shirt and cut the sleeves off (with hems intact).

Next, I sewed the pink sleeves onto the black and then added the black hems.
I feel so much less afraid of seeing 'bicep envy' on my friends' faces with this shirt now!!
(This was part one)

Chris' Rad Shirt

Chris had two shirts that he liked, the orange one with a Dr. Seuss-looking ray gun thingy on it, and a blue jersey-like Lutheran Camp shirt (oh the things one can find at a thrift store!). He liked the striped sleeves and the v-neck of the blue shirt, but it was overall a little tight. He loved the fit of the orange shirt but it had some nasty pit holes wearing under each arm. I told him that I could do what I could to combine the two and get rid of the holes-which was a bit of a challenge, but this is how it came out!

Refashion Project #1

Okay so before I started documenting my projects, I just took pictures of the final product. This shirt here was actually two shirts-one black and one grey with feathers and thingys on it. I didn't like how either one fit my body, well, I didn't like how much of my bosoms (wow, that's not really a common term any more is it?) okay, boobs, popped out of the black shirt but I liked the length of it. I didn't care for how stretched out the bottom of the grey shirt became at the end of the day, but I liked the top and the funky design. After cutting and removing the parts of both shirts that I didn't like, I sewed the remaining pieces together and...Woolah!

And So It Begins

So I finally jumped on the band-er-blogwagon. My Coeur d'Alene friends (thank you Christine and Amber!:) suggested that I create a blog documenting my inspired projects that I am currently working on. I finally decided on a name (and I'm rather proud of it!) and thus my journey begins!
